24-hour clock
On a 24-hour analog clock the hour hand goes round once a day instead of twice, so 15:00 points to 15 and there is no need for AM or PM. The dial is shaded from today’s real sunset to sunrise where you are, with the sun marking solar noon, so you can see at a glance how much daylight is left.
It is a handy way to learn 24-hour (military) time, and popular with pilots, sailors, shift workers and anyone living across time zones. Put 24 or 12 at the top, and show all 24 numerals or just the main ones.

Questions
- How do I read a 24-hour clock?
- Hours run from 0 (midnight) to 23. Up to 12:00 they match the 12-hour clock; after noon, add 12, so 3 PM is 15:00 and 9 PM is 21:00.
- Is 24-hour time the same as military time?
- Yes, apart from formatting. Military time is usually written without a colon (1500, said “fifteen hundred”), while the 24-hour clock is written 15:00.
